EU Platform Work Directive: national laws due
What’s happening
Member states must have rules in force that presume platform workers are employees unless the platform proves otherwise, and that limit automated monitoring and decision-making, including human review of major decisions and consultation with worker representatives. Many countries, including Ireland and France, had not finished as of late summer, and the Netherlands published its draft on June 29, 2026.
What to do
If you use app-based or gig labor (delivery, rides, home services, freelance platforms), ask providers how they handle worker classification and algorithmic management.
